When we say in Slovenia Gorenjska, we instinctively think of Slovenian Alps. The area of Slovenian Alps is the meeting point of three major mountain massifs and the Prealps: the two thousand meter Julian Alps and the peaks of Karavanke and Kamnik-Savinja Alps. In the area the visitors can find marked hiking trails and even thematic and sightseeing tracks. Over 10,000 km of marked hiking trails, over 2000 km of thematic trails and over 8,000 km of cycling paths invite many hikers and cyclists. Hiking and biking are very important tourist product of Slovenia.
Triglav National Park
Julian Alps are an oasis of untouched and protected nature. They extend over 1.542 km2, including the 838 km2 area of Triglav National Park. The highest peak is Triglav (2864 m).
Lake Bled is situated below the peaks of the Julian Alps. The icon of Slovenian tourism is popular destination, especially for foreign visitors. A special boat can take you on the island in the middle of the lake, where you can also get married.
